Our Client is a leader in customer and product support with a worldwide retail presence. They have recently opened a position for a Java Architect who can lead the technical direction of a team that develops and delivers solutions for retail partners. They offer an excellent salary commensurate with experience. Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. Relocation possible for the right candidate! Base Salary in the $85K-95K range. This is a full time, on site, permanent position, no C2C.

The Position
In this role you will:
  • Develop products utilizing Agile and XP principles
  • Create architectural design documentation
  • Work with business stakeholders and development teams to reach agreement on the requirements
  • Integrate data to create business solutions 
  • Ensure business requirements are met on schedule by creating project plans
  • Review code and technical designs of other team members
  • Investigate/root cause production defects
  • Participate in pair programming, code katas, tech leveling, and other development activities
  • Work within and help establish guidelines such as coding standards, workflow, and/or tool standards
  • Drive team technical standards and processes
  • Provide technical leadership and support to the onboarding and integration of external Partners and Suppliers
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a passion to solve problems with a team
  • 7+ years of experience with web software development
  • 7+ years of experience Java development experience
  • Experience with applications development environment, database, data administration and infrastructure capabilities and constraints
  • Understanding of service-oriented architecture
  • Experience working with Test Driven Development, Acceptance Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, Test Automation
  • Experience with Agile development process
  • Proven experience designing large scale applications
  • Experience translating business requirements into technical solutions and communicating those to development teams
  • Ability to travel up to 25% both domestic and international
  • Bachelors of Arts/Science in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field
Preferred abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead the technical direction of a team and to influence without direct authority
  • Experience working with HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, Progressive Enhancement, Responsive Design
  • Experience designing and developing embedded systems (C++)
  • Experience with Java/J2EE programming/software/server-side development
  • Experience working with REST web services, Spring, Maven, Hibernate, IntelliJ or RAD/Eclipse IDE
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services platform technologies; Kinesis, RDS, EC2/ECS, S3, SQS, EMR, etc.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex applications requiring high performance and scalability
  • Experience working with offshore development team
