In this position, you will play a key leadership role working with multi-disciplinary teams to create software architecture documents and software requirement specifications for medical devices. Job Responsibilities

Responsible for design, development, testing, compliance, traceability, documentation and refinement of embedded and application level software for electrical systems.

Additional responsibilities for this role include:
  1. Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization to the completion of difficult assignments.
  2. Reports observations/problems clearly and concisely, recognizing and highlighting specific deviations and presents possible solutions.
  3. Develops system level design strategies and may lead design, development, testing & refinement of components and sub-systems. 
  4. Development follows Product Design Controls procedures and Software Development lifecycle procedures.
  5. Usually works with minimum of supervision, conferring with superior on unusual matters. May be assisted by Design Engineer.
  6. Under general supervision, plans, conducts and supervises assignments.
  7. Reviews progress and evaluates results.
  8. Recommends changes in procedures and processes.
  9. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring originality and ingenuity.
  10. Has appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision.
  11. Guide and direct design, senior and staff engineers within the same project, including local and remote resources.
  12. Fundamental understanding of IPC and IEC requirements as well as ISO organization related to electrical.
  13. Perform formal risk analysis and develop software mitigations.
  14. SW build, change control, and development/test process improvement. 
  15. Development of research prototypes used to evaluate new product concepts. 
  16. A desire to deliver a quality and innovative product that improves lives.
  17. Acts as the software technical lead for a project, providing architectural and product content guidance. 
  18. Provides input to the vision, definition and specification of future designs.
  19. Own/Support all phases of the product development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, debug, verification, validation, and transfer to manufacturing. 

Job Requirements

  • B.S. in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering/M.S. highly preferred 
Qualification & Experience:
  • M.S. in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering preferred
  • Requires a minimum of 4 years experience.
  • Experience with designing software products in an FDA or other regulated industry.
  • Familiar with concepts of design input, design output, traceability, and risk analysis.
  • Able to debug software and hardware/schematics at higher level using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and simulators.
  • Experience in concurrent cross-platform development preferred.
  • Demonstrates mastery in system level software (drivers, RTOS, and test applications) in embedded environment.
  • Expertise in debugging embedded systems without or with little emulator support.
  • Understands product development processes including:
  • Change Control & Design Control.
  • Software Development Life Cycle
  • Project management: Familiar with Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) practices and general theory and application of PMBOK strongly preferred.
  • Capable in Microsoft Project
  • Fluent in:
  • C/C++, Object Oriented Coding, Windows Embedded
  • Agile Testing
  • Tools: CodeWarrior, Perforce or similar, Doxygen, LabView, Matlab, Microsoft Visual Stud
  • Knowledge in embedded system design required.
  • Understand integration of software and hardware required.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Eagerness to assist internal and external customers.
  • Possess attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
