Description
Our client is seeking a Virtualization Engineer with KVM and RHEL expertise and experience in network engineering and network function virtualization.  You will assist the client in evolving their product portfolio to service the Business Services community.  This includes expanding service delivery to the mid-market and enterprise segments and evolving the voice and messaging products.  In parallel, the team is evolving the voice and messaging architecture to IMS and building Web-Service APIs and Customer and Care portals to support customer self-service options.  Sysadmin skills and a deep knowledge of virtualization on a Linux platform is needed to make recommendations and dig to discover how to create the proper design with the right approach.
 
Key Accountabilities:
  • Designs, implements and sustains engineering of the client’s applications and services.
  • Focuses on proof of concept and evaluation of innovative methods to virtualize various elements of IMS and Advanced Voice networks.
  • Oversees full life cycle product development to include analysis and planning related to product development, launch and deployment.
  • May act as the interface to third-party vendors from a business and engineering perspective with respect to requirements generation for meeting company goals and with respect to licensable technology.
  • Develops financial and operational objectives.  Ensures operational plans are aligned with business objectives.
  • May contribute to functional strategy development.
 
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field; or, equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience administrating UNIX operating systems (Red Hat Linux preferred).
  • Experience with server hardware operation, administration, management and provisioning.
  • Expertise with enterprise storage solution design, configuration and management (SANs, fibre channel, iSCSI).
  • Proficiency with blade systems, Layer 2 switching and networking, and storage such as iSCSI or NFS.
  • Ability to write and design virtual environments from scratch.
  • Proficiency with development/ operations tooling (HP OneView, Puppet, Ansible, Foreman, Chef, Kickstart).
  • Experience with device monitoring, control and alerting technology (SNMP, Syslog).
  • Working knowledge of scripting and markup languages commonly used for administration (Shell Scripting, TCL, Expect, Perl, Python, YAML).
  • Experience with enterprise virtualization design, implementation and administration.
  • Proficiency across multiple hypervisors (VMware vSphere, RHEV, KVM, Openstack, AWS, Google Cloud).
  • Experience with high availability and disaster recovery leveraging virtualization platforms (Live Migration, vMotion).
  • Expertise with KVM virtualization, RHV-Manager, Template, PostgreSQL DB, SR-IOV and DPDK.
  • Prior experience with Rackspace is nice to have.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
